Meet featured Artist, Arthur Kirkby!
Arthur Kirkby is hard to describe. Sometimes artist, recording artist, actor and performer who can also be found styling and coloring the hair of some of Nashville’s most striking residents. Arthur was one of the founding members of the non-profit artists group Untitled Artists, which was started in Hillsboro Village at Multi-Bob, the space now occupied by Bosco’s. The Frist chose Arthur’s design of giant random Christmas decorations inspired by Claes Oldenburg for the front bollards in a call for artists in 2006. Arthur was chosen Best Pet Artist by the reader’s of Nashville PAW in 2008 and has designed t-shirts for New Leash on Life and Nashville PAW which benefits local spay and neuter efforts. Arthur’s multiple personalities definitely come through in his artistic styles, which range from fine art and architectural renderings in photographic realism to spray-painted Pop graffitti art on trash wood and recycled objects. Also an aspiring videographer, Arthur’s youtube channel ‘arthurTELEVISION” contains time-lapse music videos of him painting, fashion promos and his own quirky music videos inspired by the early videos of MTV.
Stop by and see his work in person at the Hillsboro Village Art Walk this Thursday, August 2nd from 5-8pm!
